Akshit Agarwal

Hey, I'm a Product Leader by profession & Entrepreneur by heart. Technology, Product & Growth enthusiast with a background of helping teams at small (<50), medium (500-2k) and large (5k+) high growth consumer internet companies.

How will coaching shape the future of product over the next 5-10 years?

Coaching will definitely grow the whole ecosystem by 100x if done properly. Product mgmt in itself has grown tremendously in the last 10 years, but I still feel most of them don't have the right direction/process to perform well. Mostly depend on things they learned in MBA. I feel anyone willing to get from x to 10x should have a proper path to combat the challenges they face daily.

What are some of the most effective frameworks you've used when coaching leaders in your area?

The Five Whys (for better understanding) Why How What (for understanding motivation) Hook, Psyc Model + Variable Rewards (for building sticky products) Outcome-Driven Model (for setting right outcome - work, people, process, etc.) Exponential Feedback Loop w/ Competency Model (for grooming & growing)

What's your best advice for product managers looking to increase their impact?

The impact is always measured by the business metrics you move. Define & own the business metrics that you think you will be able to move. Then define your product metrics. Get stakeholder's alignment on both. Then apply product execution skills to achieve these. Stick to it & don't get diverted by any ad hoc requests from anyone.

Anything we should know about you as a thought leader in the area of product:

I've mentored multiple PMs at Times Internet (India's Biggest Media Conglomerate) across different teams like Gaana, MX Player, Willow TV, etc. & Stanza Living. Core focus & skills are: - helping define the right goals, metrics, & strategy - develop stakeholder mgmt & alignment skills - product-led growth & out-of-box ideas during execution - groom team members at each step to grow them from x to 10x
